Phone

I recently had the pleasure of playing lichess on my iphone 4 it was a pleasant surprise. First off I want to say thins, I am surprised that my phone even loaded most of lichess's cool features. I believe that everything but the chat was seen. I saw just about everything, so for the first idea I had when playing on my phone is play a blitz game, because I'll be able to play faster on my phone, well after about 15 minutes plus of trying to create a game I figured it was near impossible. I could not really move the times that I wanted for the game (the 15min game or 3 min bar and additional time for each move I couldn't move the bars the screen would just keep moving or wouldn't work at all). Then after moving the times to a point that I could tolerate, I tried to create a game, but for whatever reason I could not click on the the color that I wanted to play which was black or white, so I tried the other buttons and they didn't work either. This took me 20 minutes or so all together to get this far. At this point and time I decided to just play someones game, so to my surprise when I clicked on the graph it worked and I played a blitz game (lost terribly on time http://en.lichess.org/nuz6NTNUwuXD because the phone took for ever to click). Then the graph started to give me trouble and would not let me click on the opponent I wanted to play, first click showed time, then random clicking started the game (I say random clicking because I am not exactly sure how exactly I started the game because the second click would not always start the game for me). After a few minutes I then played http://en.lichess.org/zRJGmtgF0TII and lost on time again. The graph is frustrating but doable the list I can't even click an opponent because it reloads to fast for my phone and everything moves so I can't click on a game. Well this is my experience on my iphone 4 the main reason I rote this post is if there ever is a mobile version of lichess made these are some problems they might consider tackling especially considering Clarkey said there might be a mobile website coming out soon (that conversation http://en.lichess.org/forum/general-chess-discussion/lichess-appli).
The main problem for most smartphones is the dependence on javascript and the frequent lack of support for that on most handsets. There are two main things which would improve the smartphone position: full conversion to HTML5 (removing the need for javascript) and a HTML5 compliant replacement for pgn4web (which uses javascript too).

BTW, creating a mobile app or site is less likely to be the issue than doing so in a way that can't be exploited by cheating wankers while still enabling free and anonymous access. That could get tricky.
