Why people play sicilian dragon defense?

The Sicilian Dragon is known for resulting in sharp and tactical positions. Black has good attacking chances, but if black plays too passively, white can launch a crushing attack.

Furthermore, your opponent was lower-rated than you, so you may have had an easier game.
you played a good game and clearly have experience in the structure but your opening moves are slightly inaccurate. You shouldn´t allow black to break with d5. hence instead of 7. f3 you should play 7. bc4 to prevent that break. As a hyper-accelerated dragon player myself i try to precisely the lines with d6 because they really are hard to play for black. If white allows the d5 break though blacks attack is very fluid and fast.
I dont want to be rude, but i think its funny that, as pepidda pointed out, you bash the opening when you dont even play the correct move-order yourself. Your opponent played an incorrect line, you will often win games like that, especially in sharp openings.

That doesnt necessarily mean that the opening is bad.

I didnt know about the inmediate Bh6 in the dragon. Also I have to point out that this is more of a DragonDorf, not a Dragon. Anyways e6 by your opponent was a losing move.

Not that I love the Dragon, in fact I like crushing it and talking trash saying it is refuted but if someone plays the sharp mainlines you will most probably get crushed or drawn.

A well experienced dragon player would draw with you in 30 moves if you know the theory or punish you in a single mistake. Take a look at the Soltis Lines, they are crazy.
Dragon with an early e6 is a wounded dragon. More like a sheep
Show me a REAL DRAGON win
it was a nice game nevertheless
If you play the black side of the Dragon, you really need to know what you're getting yourself into. If you don't know at least 10-15 moves of theory and many common ideas for both sides, you're in for a bad time. Your opponent didn't know the opening well enough, played a bit inaccurately, and you punished him nicely.
thanks for your ideas guys, I got your point. If black had played e5 when he could, he would have changed the whole course of the game, I see now.

e5 isn't a winning move of course, but it would have made me play more defensively and his position would have good chances to be played well for a win.
