The abysmal cheat detection just keeps getting worse.

I love how people will always complain saying there are alot of cheaters but never providing a source other then their opinion.

Why not analyse last months games with a chestdetecting software and see how many chests there are and how many lichess got because this type of complaining goes no where unless we can measure the problem act and see if there is an improvement
> However, you're absolutely free and even welcome to critique us if you feel like it and I'm sorry that we weren't able to meet your expectations.

that's an overly generous response to a paranoiac who's made a few aggressive posts on the same thing before
And @Cedur216 wants all paranoid people ‘fixed’ , we can’t all be wrong with our paranoia which = awareness!! xxx

I assume that the lichess.org crisis management team sat down immediately after your suggestion to discuss the necessary steps.
On the subject of spotting out people who use engines online, I find it rather impossible to prove in some cases. Emphasis on "some cases".

Whenever people suspect others, they probably fail to realize that they're basically doubting that their opponent is smart enough to make accurate judgements at any point in time (they would naturally expect them to make bad moves instead —which can be considered distasteful) as they judge their opponent's gameplay based on their intuitive understanding of the game.

While taking their opponent's move-times (time spent per move) into account, they would conclude that one has cheated. This is however a valid way to spot out actual cheaters, and at the same time it's basically what I would call a "blind assessment" which can be flawed. In reality they could be wrong.

This is one (of possibly a few) valid reason(s) why false-positive bans do occur online. So to speak, banning people who never cheated is actually something that happens, sadly & understandably. And lichess is aware that false-positives do happen sometimes, factually speaking.
The main point here is that being affected negatively by someone else's opinion/ understanding of a certain situation can be really unfair as people can misjudge others.

I'd say It's safe to have & maintain a neutral perspective towards playing online chess as you may or may not come across engine users often.
Personally I prefer not to judge a single soul (regardless of whether or not I happen to come across people who misrepresent their skill-level) as I do leave it all to the imperfect automated cheat detection system.

However, I would thank the lichess team for at least making an effort towards tackling actual cheaters. They're definitely not always spot-on as they risk banning innocent individuals but they do deserve credit all in all.

> It's another case of lichess lacking seriousness, anyone looking for a serious competition should avoid this site, I know the score, its a joke around here, players taking the micky out of serious players, it's a phenomenon in the world, everyone likes to have a go at another one whether it be chess or any other interesting game.
> I get the impression the operators don't care because they are just hiding their weakness
> It's true that lichess and other online chess websites are an invitation to abuse serious chess enthusiasts, because of the simple methods available.
> Come on play a 10 minute game otb , and the true shades of a chess player shine through, isn't that cool.
> They probably only stop cheaters when they reach a certain rating barrier, and even then let a small number actually do their nonsense in the top lichess leaderboard ranks.
> Lichess isn't it time to close the book, and make a fresh start, I guess not , although miracles do happen, is it so????

hehe, about competition I don't see where there is better with all the tournaments there are! (after all if you don't like this kind of competition, you are free to play ice hockey or rugby if you want strong emotions!)
mods are there to help and listen.

cheaters are detected in relation to the content of the games, I have no doubt that Lichess always does its job well.

Thanks for the invite, but I play enough 10+0s to know that there are more honest people (and a lot of serious enthusiasts) than cheaters. it's not because a few people do bad things that it should spoil the friendly and competitive atmosphere of the site, besides you are free to create your site, you can even use the source code of Lichess, it is free and accessible to everyone.
it seems that the phenomenon is that some complain about their own chimera, Don Quixote saw giants instead of mills, some see cheaters without reporting them. sad, because there is a serious team of mods who take care of this, and are at your disposal.
Everyday Lichess open a new page of the Book because
the history of Lichess is written with the players, who takes pleasure to play and learn. it's not always a fairy tale, but it's not a dark novel, it's a great chess book, which is filled with thousands of games and emotions.
As much as I like this lichess place, it's more like a playground than something I'd consider to be a site dedicated to the battle of Chess.
I know there are so many good players in real life, so I'm not arguing about that.
Looking at some of my recent games, I can tell that some guys just like to mess around at the end stage, and promote to 2 or three Queens after clearing my material, I can't remember any club game where anyone did that.
And what does this mean, those messing around guys, are so good at refuting my opening strategies, that it seems like they are really just taking the micky.... because if you're so good at the beginning why would you want to drag the game out by making nonsensical moves?
I want to win or at least draw, as quickly as possible... not drag the game out....
Anyway happy cheating....it's a special occasion , so I bought you some more sophisticated tools , try them they'll struggle to catch you...

It in't allowed to name and shame cheaters on this site so to do what you ask is not allowed.
