Whenever I change the language using the language picker in the header, it works for while but quickly reverts to the browser default language.
Is there any way to avoid this?
Thanks a lot for your support!
Semi related: If I change the language it's not accessing the stored password for login. (I originally had another account, but thought I lost the password and created this account; later I noticed that if I change back the language I still have the password stored for the old account)
Are you also using the mobile app? And if so what language do you have your phone set to? I think what happens is the mobile app is changing the language setting on startup.
#4 He clearly said "browser", not mobile app.
#1 Just make sure you've set and are visiting the proper URL for your language (presumably
ga.lichess.org for you). If you clean your cache/cookies, it'll get rid of the setting (software like CCleaner does it automatically, if set to do so). If not, give more details on the problem, and maybe we can localize it.
#3 Save your passwords with wildcards ( *.lichess.org ) to avoid this problem. Your passwords were saved for different URLs: exp.
en.lichess.org and
ru.lichess.org#5 I know he said browser but it seems opening the mobile app has an impact on the global language setting used in the browser app. I know it because I used to have my phone set to "french" and to set the browser app to english and the browser app would be set to french after I used the mobile app.
#6 From what I understood, there's nothing odd about that. Changing your global settings may affect other apps. If it's a problem you're having, start a new forum thread.
Hello, thank you for suggestions, Erikelrojo you may be right, I'm using the mobile app which is indeed set in a different language. It looks like my account reverts to the mobile app language whenever I login on mobile. Thanks.

1. Change the language setting in the app -> your website language is changed as well.
2. Change the language setting on the website -> the change is undone the next time you start the app (how is this not an obvious bug? The app should fetch the latest language setting instead of overwriting it.)
I wonder if there's a 3. Install the app after using the website for some time -> the app changes your language to match its default language (probably your phone's language).
