Support my channel

Hey everyone, I’m an American chess player rated about 1650. I’m not super strong, but in my time playing chess I have found that there is very little free content that’s worth watching. Content is either so basic that a beginner would barely learn from it, or so complicated that you have to be 2000 to know what’s going on. For that reason, I’m starting a YouTube channel for beginners and club level players to learn tactics, strategic ideas, endgame and opening theory. It will partly be geared towards my small town chess club, but I would love it if any of you would watch the videos and streams. I’m not asking for subscribers or money, just some support in furthering this great game that we all love. If anyone is interested, my channel is www.youtube.com/channel/UCNR5pdqs3qVGn5Mvc3A4x9A and I will start my first stream in about 20 minutes.
I'll subscribe, and I'm willing to help. Good luck.
@laatikko @jonesmh I have put up two videos, one of me playing lichess and one where I go over some barebones opening principles, tactics, and common checkmating patterns.
@Tucktuck24 That's great! I was considering to put my own but it interfered with my school work. Thank you for doing the thing I did not get to do. I will support your channel as well.
@Ducati09 Thanks so much! Feel free to vote in the comments for which opening series I should do first.
Just from your first video it's obvious to me that you have tremendous potential not only as a chess player but also as a chess YouTuber. Personally, I think shorter time controls would be more entertaining, preferably without increments, although I can understand why you might not want to sacrifice the educational value. It would also be interesting if you played in a lichess tournament instead of the pool. I think the competitive atmosphere makes each win and loss more intense for the viewer. A couple notes on aesthetic: dark mode is easier on the eyes and more attractive. Also, you might consider changing your board theme to something a little more natural. I recommend the fourth theme down on the second row; it's what I personally use.

These are all just thoughts! Take them with a grain of salt if you wish. I subscribed and am looking forward to seeing your skills grow through your content. If you have any interest in doing a match, I'm always down to play a bunch of bullet or blitz games in a row (although I don't often have the patience for longer games). In any case, good luck in your chess and I hope the best for your channel.
@Asym Thank you so much! I will take all of your suggestions for my next video.

I think I will play a 5+3 time control.

Do you have any preference for what opening series I should do first?
@Asym I think I will record a video tonight, and after I finish recording that, we can play some games. Would you like me to stream them or just play for fun?
Watched your video and I will keep an eye out for your future vids. I think we are roughly the same skill level but you clearly have a lot more knowledge about openings & different lines. I just kind of wing it when I play lol.

Only comment would be that you should try not being too negative or bashing your opponent, especially if you want to be a knowledge based channel. It's just not a good look when they play some random opening and you call them bad because it's not a standard move. Instead explain why a different move was better, or explain the weakness they created.

That being said I also plan to make videos, but probably not until after New Years when I have more time available. I haven't played in years and want to track my progress improving and share the journey.

Keep up the good work though
