Endgame Books for Tournament Players

Is there any particular reason why you exclude the book written by Jesus de la Villa?
A must-add to this list is Mikhail Shereshevsky's "Endgame Strategy" (or his "Mastering The Endgame," Volumes 1 & 2.

I'm assuming it's similar to his "Rapid Chess Improvement" book, which was useful but not instructive.
Jesús de la Villa's is quite instructive, though!
It was the first recommendation by the guy at a chess stall during the Bilbao Masters, years ago. when I asked him about a book to learn chess endings, which I had neglected for decades!

By the way, I loved the post photograph at first sight. And then I saw that I know the photographer in person ;DD

You have Jesus de la Villa - who is a GM - confused with Michael de la Maza I think :-)
Also might want to throw in there Survival Guide to Rook Endings by Emms, as well as David Hooper's Practical Chess Endgames.
Some of these titles are available on-line for free in downloadable PDF format .
