Queens Gambit

Hi everyone,

I just wanted to discuss my recent success with the queens gambit and ask if others have also found similar success in their games? Well to introduce myself as a player, very typically as white i will play e4 even though i consider myself mainly a positional player. But recently I just started playing the queens gambit and am shocked with how great my results are turning out. I just feel like the queens gambit just gets wins for positional players and e4 just creates really sharp and exciting positions. Anyone else also have success with d4 and the queens gambit? Thanks!
I don't think d4 is inherently more positional than e4. Adams, Leko, Carlsen and early Karpov are just some examples of clean, positional e4 play I can think of.

I do think however that main line d4 openings are amazingly effective up to expert level. As soon as I started playing 1 d4 my results sky rocketed, and often I too get this feeling of "too easy".
Crappy players like me need this.
Dude, learn to be a man and play the Grob.

Seriously, quit being a pansy and opening with 1.e4 or 1.d4... You should especially be ashamed Sollerman, your ancestors were vikings.
Thanks for your input guys haha got some interesting feedback and yeah i know LeMusique you are a strong advocate of the grob but i just wanted to discuss what ive found recently in my play. Thanks :)
Taken from wikipedia:

"The Grob is generally considered inferior and is usually not employed in serious competition. International Master John Watson writes, "As far as I can tell, 1 g4 is competitive with 1 h4 for the honour of being White's worst first move. Against an informed or skilled opponent, it is simply masochistic.""
In our club we have a 2100+ player who sometimes plays the grob. No defeat yet. So it should be fine for most players. If you know an opening that is a big plus! If you haven't studied the grob and play g4, obviously you will fail.
