I think the intuitive interface on lichess and the local computer evaluation feature could make lichess an excellent place to watch live chess tournaments, thereby bringing in a lot of traffic. There was even a small discussion about this three months ago: http://en.lichess.org/forum/general-chess-discussion/watching-tournaments-live. Are there any news about it now?
I support this idea. The only reason I migrate to chess24 sometimes is to watch live tournaments but lichess could offer so much more for free with live board analysis and a free connected database. Also lichess could sort out the clock issue chess24 has.

Live coverage costs quite a bit of effort though, there has to be some dude at the end of it inputting the moves and keeping up with it all.
I would do it during the summer for the benefit of lichess users. Just saying you have someone here that will donate their time to run it during some tournaments.
I don't think it is being done manually, usually it involves picking up moves automatically from the official broadcast (as far as I know).
Yeh but getting access to that might be close to impossible.
Okay, could an algorithm pick up the moves automatically from chess24 or chessbomb.com/? (If that is considered ethical.)
Maybe I am not sure how it is developed though. Not my area of expertise.
