I joined a team (or a fan club) on lichess recently. Now I get notifications all the time on the left sidebar of the frontpage saying that some user also joined the team. I don't really see why I should care about that, all the other notifications are much more interesting in comparison (when I get a new follower or someone responds to me).
So is there a way to disable this particular type of notifications? If not, I think it would be a good move for lichess just to remove them; unless you are the creator of a team, it is not very likely that you care if some team that you've joined gets an additional member.

Yes, and also when "X" competes in "Y" Arena. There are so much people joining some tournament all the time, that it's not interesting.

I think it's nice to know when someone you're following competes in a tourney.
When it's hiimgosu or chessbrahs it's cool. Some people I follow, who have 1500-2000 rating, for example, participate all the time in tournaments. All my left panel is clogged with these notifications.
I think it might take quite a bit of work, but maybe the follow system could be revamped to include which notifications we want to receive from each person we follow?
Regardless, the basic solution would be notification settings in general. Hope it gets worked out, I also feel many of these notifications get rather annoying. I do enjoy that there is an unsubscribe function to the forum posts you automatically follow once posting, though.
Some notifications are really irrelevant.
"Player X competes in Hourly Bullet Arena 16 hours ago" notifications are quite annoying. Please make it disalable from preferences.
They spamming out all the area, and useful notifications with correspondence games results are shifting to the bottom. I'd prefer to have an option to switch off such tournament notifications.
