Please, ban non-fair players.

Yes @PixelatedParcel, that's pretty much exactly what I'm saying :)

Playbans are in place, and they do increase in length per playban, but (IMO) they either increase too slowly, or are too short to begin with, or both.

here is a good example. I am playing in the unrated pool and I get paired with a super low provisional player named "bot." Who in the right mind is NOT going to abort this game? And should >>I<< be punished for not playing this game?

You can set which rating range you accept, and nobody wants people to get banned for aborting 1 in 5000 games, so I really don't understand which purpose this serves.

The thread is about people who ragesit/ragequit all of their games, letting their time run out for 2+ minutes in lost positions, etc

What does this have to do with a singular instance of you aborting a game that you should never have accepted in the first place?
ah I see. Yeah players stalling especially in the daily rapid/classical is very annoying. I agree.

I think I misread the post, my bad ;)

but aborting games does affect your game completion rate, which I guess I kinda connected.
Players are allowed to use their time as they want. However people who quit the page should -and are- punished if it's repeated.
@Solal35 As long as people use their time in a manner that lies within the ethos of this site, I completely agree with you.

But when one uses this site and systematically or egregiously steps out of the ethical framework - the practices and values, even unstated that distinguish Lichess from other platforms - I really don't think any allowances should be made, other than giving one the opportunity to know what behaviour is unfitting and a chance to amend oneself so as to continue on as a responsible and respected member of the community.
Most of these issues of disconnecting and reconnecting, not moving, and randomly moving with a few seconds left hoping to win a game in an unethical manner can be solved with a NO ESCAPE OPTION. The issue with someone sitting on a move and not moving while connected is a non issue. I do not care so much as what the opponent does as long as he is present, but disconnecting and coming back to try to win points needs to be solved. NO ESCAPE OPTION fixes that mess.
